Description

For over 90 years, International House (I-House) has served the University and the Chicago-area community as a cultural center. Through the Global Voices Performing Arts and Lecture Series, I-House presents more than 100 programs annually that advance cross-cultural understanding and public discourse on community, national, and world affairs. These programs provide Chicago’s citizens, universities, cultural institutions, community groups, and UChicago students with opportunities for meaningful engagement with artists, scholars, and other leaders from the world stage. The I‑House community also serves as a model of peaceful and productive coexistence in a multicultural society. Our goal is to continue to strengthen and expand programming and access to those programs, including online learning opportunities for our worldwide alumni and friends community.

Donations are applied to...

Your support for our Global Voices Performing Arts and Lecture Series will help forge global connections, nurturing the geographic, cultural, and economic diversity that is central to the mission of I-House and UChicago. The generosity of our alumni and friends worldwide helps us offer cultural programs and supports our Global Voices Metcalf Internship Program for undergraduate students.

Personal Message

All members of the International House community are fortunate to have the opportunity to witness firsthand how the I-House student life experience and public outreach programs contribute to transforming people’s lives for a better world. What we have at International House is extraordinary, and the generous support of donors this Giving Tuesday helps us maintain and nurture it.

Why are donations necessary?

When you support Global Voices public programming, you bolster International House’s role as a locus for multicultural engagement and exchange. Programs include musical and other performances, outreach programs with international organizations, collaborations with foreign consulates, and forums led by distinguished guest speakers. On Giving Tuesday, you can ensure that International House at the University of Chicago continues to serve as “Host to the World” well into the future.
